Worms or parasites are one of the more common problems encountered in veterinary practice. Several different types of worms may be seen in dogs and cats: roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms, and giardia. Some of these parasites can also be passed along to us, with children at higher risk. Pets may be infected without showing any symptoms. If your dog or cat spends time around other pets they are at higher risk of becoming infected. Even your own backyard may be a source of infection.
